Exported as Suzuki Alto but with little connection to contemporaneous Japanese model of the same name, new A-star sold on low price, with engine from more sophisticated Suzuki Splash. Low emissions, but sparse equipment levels and poor refinement. Beaten on launch by rivals such as Peugeot 107 or Hyundai i10. Twinned with Nissan Pixo. Indian production to 2014. Chinese production, as Alto, from 2009, facelift in 2013.
