Maico 500. 1955–8 (prod. over 5,000 all Maico models). 2-door saloon, 2-door LWB saloon. R/R, 452 cm³ (I2 2-str.). Microcar based on ZF Champion from the 1940s, after Maico bought the assets of the ailing Champion firm in 1954. Water-cooled Heinkel 18 PS engine, with body by Baur, though fundamentally the same: simple, uncomfortable, noisy, and unrefined. Two body lengths, the longer (500/4) accommodating four passengers. Chassis improved 1957. Maico decided to exit the car business soon after, with the car venture a failure.

Manufacturing location: Ammerbruch-Pfäffingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
