MG ZS (HHR). 2001–4 (prod. 25,357 incl. Mk II). 4- and 5-door saloon. F/F, 1396, 1598, 1796 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 1994 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 2497 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Sporting version of Rover 45 Mk I, launched after the Phoenix Four took over MG and Rover from BMW. Made better use of Honda’s double-wishbone front suspension, with ZS tuned for sportiness rather than comfort. Surprised the media at the time as being somewhat of a dark horse, despite ancient base (the 1992 Honda Domani). Unsurprisingly, packaging stuck in the 1990s. V6 models were most acclaimed.

Manufacturing location: Longbridge, Birmingham, England

Marque: MG | Model: MG ZS | Predecessor: MG Maestro | Successor: MG ZS Mk II
