MG MGA Mk I. 1955–60 (prod. 92,362, incl. 2,111 Twin Cam, 31,501 1600). 2-door roadster, 2-door coupé. F/R, 1489, 1588 cm³ (4 cyl. OHV), 1588 cm³ (4 cyl. DOHC). Modern MG, a full departure from T-series. Attractive, full-width bodywork. Corporate B-series engine dropped in, originally with 68 hp, then 72; 1600 had 79·5 bhp. Streamliner EX181 record-breaker used DOHC B-series, and a production version of the engine was in the MGA Twin Cam, built 1958–60. Standard models received 1588 cm³ OHV engine from 1959, to the end of the Mk I’s run. Most for export, with only a handful for the home market.

Manufacturing location: Abingdon, Berkshire, England

Marque: MG | Model: MG MGA | Predecessor: MG TF (1953–5) | Successor: MG MGA Mk II
