MG 6.jpg

MG 6. 2010 to date (prod. 150,000 to March 2012). 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 1796 cm³ petrol, 1849 cm³ diesel (4 cyl. DOHC). Fastback version of Roewe 550. Announced at Guangzhou Motor Show in November 2009, with normal and turbocharged models. Said to be engineered to international standards, with UK assembly from late 2010. Not on a Rover 75 platform, despite earlier reports, with MacPherson struts up front and Z-axle at rear. Fairly good handling, and up with European demands, though interior drab. Fastback shape, not the most popular in China, marketed as a style pioneered by Britons, tying car in with international image there. Revised MG logo appeared first on 6. Four-door, called 6 Saloon, launched 2010, and reminiscent of Roewe 550. On UK launch, fastback renamed MG 6 GT; saloon dubbed MG 6 Magnette. Diesel from 2012—not the most refined at lower speeds, but good on the motorway.

Manufacturing location: Lingang, Shanghai, China

Marque: MG | Predecessor: MG ZS Mk II
