Yulon had gradually increased its development of the cars it made for the Taiwanese market, and was bullish enough by 2008 to create its own brand. Luxgen stands for ''luxury'' and ''genius'', and Yulon promised to give it all the resources it needed, despite launching its first M722T minivan during a global recession in 2009. Other models were expected to follow in subsequent years, with an SUV to follow the M7 series.
