Leyland Mini (Australia).jpg

Leyland Mini. 1973–84 (prod. n/a). 2-door sedan, 2-door van (plus 2 rear doors). F/F, 998, 1098, 1275 cm³ (I4 OHV). Australian-made, Clubman-shaped Minis officially in price lists as Leyland Mini (for British Minis from this era, see Mini marque). Began with 1100 deluxe and S models in March 1973, 1000 deluxe, S and SS from 1976; SS replaced by LS for 1977. Final year of 1978 saw Sunshine sedan with 998 cm³ engine and the return of the 1275 cm³ for the LS. Still distinct from other Clubmans: boxy nose but external door hinges and front quarterlight windows. Similar policy in South Africa: establishment of Leyland Mini as the make and model in 1973, but different trim levels, and the Clubman design (following the UK style) were made to 1984. Original round-nose Mini (de luxe) also sold as base Leyland Mini in South Africa to 1980, equipped with 1·1-litre from 1974. Countryman-based vans (Minivan in South Africa) were sold to 1980.

Manufacturing locations: Zetland, New South Wales, Australia; Enfield, New South Wales, Australia; Cape Town, South Africa

Marque: Leyland | Predecessor: Morris Mini Clubman
