Leyland Marina 1750.jpg

Leyland Marina. 1973–8 (prod. 32,500 approx.). 2-door coupé, 4-door sedan. F/R, 1275 cm³ (I4 OHV), 1485, 1748 cm³ (I4 OHC), 2623 cm³ (I6 OHC). E-series Austin Maxi engines powered Australian Marina, plus six-cylinder 2·6 used to challenge local Ford Cortina TC and Holden Torana (LJ). Suspension altered to cope with heavier weight up front. Marina, however, allowed Leyland Australia to field a relatively full range from Mini at bottom end to P76 at top, if only for a brief period. A replacement was planned (P82) but it never saw the light of day. Production shifted to South Africa after Leyland Australia’s collapse in 1975. A 1·3 was introduced in 1977, but the Marina lasted only one more year.

Manufacturing locations: Zetland, NSW, Australia; Cape Town, South Africa

Marque: Leyland | Predecessor: Morris Marina
