The 90, 110 and 127 gain a name, but it’s much the same formula under the skin. Defender 90, 110 and 130 became the new designations. New 2·5 turbodiesel at launch of Defender name, reworked in 1994 to 300 Tdi with the same capacity. The 2·8 was a South African model. Five-cylinder turbodiesel from 1998. Further revisions in 2007, with full-width dashboard and new 2·4 Ford diesel, meeting emissions’ legisation; last major round in 2012 as 2·2 replaced 2·4 for Euro V standards. Land Rover bought some of the last ones for itself to issue a limited run of 150 V8 90 Works models, to celebrate its 70th anniversary, in 2018.
