Lamborghini Espada. 1968–78 (prod. 1,217). F/R, 3929 cm³ (V12 DOHC). Lamborghini’s proper four-seat grand tourer, designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, with similarities to earlier show cars, the Marzal and Pirana. Long and wide, and very low. Punchy engine largely the same as the one in the 400 GT 2+2, based on the Bizzarrini design and improved by Gian Paolo Dallara. Well balanced, with suspension also based on the 400 GT 2+2’s. Series 2 from 1970, with new interior, power increase and improved brakes; identified outside by deletion of grille covering the vertical section of the tail glass panel. Series 3 from 1972 with further interior changes, new grille, and standard power steering; Chrysler Torqueflite automatic from 1974. US federal bumpers from 1975. Some quality issues, notably rustproofing.

Manufacturing location: Sant’Agata Bolognese, Emilia-Romagna, Italy

Marque: Lamborghini
