Lagonda Rapide. 1961–4 (prod. 55). 4-door saloon. F/R, 3995 cm³ (6 cyl. DOHC). David Brown’s attempt to revive Lagonda marque, with a four-door grand tourer based on the Aston Martin DB4, with stretched platform and four-litre engine related to that in later DB5. Criticized for its front grille treatment, but admired for its claimed 130 mph top speed and exclusivity. Very expensive when new, at £4,950. Not directly replaced till Aston Martin Lagonda of 1974. Last Lagonda-branded car.

Manufacturing location: Newport Pagnell, Milton Keynes, England

Marque: Lagonda | Predecessor: Lagonda 3-Litre (1953–8) | Successor: Aston Martin Lagonda (1974–6)
