Kia Ray (TAM). 2011 to date (prod. n/a). 5-door sedan. F/F, 998 cm³ petrol, 998 cm³ petrol–LPG (I3 DOHC), 16·4 kWh electric. Looking like a Japanese kei car but in fact larger, Ray was first shown as an EV, with a claimed range of 138 km. Expensive due to the limited numbers, and originally rolled out to government users, then a well subscribed car-sharing service in Seoul. Petrol and dual-fuel models followed. Based on the same platform as the Kia Morning (TA), hence the related code name. No B-pillar on the passenger side, which featured a sliding rear door, so the design had to be reinforced elsewhere for safety. Safety upgrades in 2019, including front collision avoidance, lane-keep assist and driver awareness warning systems.
Marque: Kia
