Kia Pride (JB). 2005–11 (prod. n/a). 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 1399, 1599 cm³ petrol, 1493 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC). Kia revives Pride name for a subcompact line based on the Hyundai Verna (MC) platform and engines. Directly replaced Rio, whose name it used for export. Mid-term facelift in 2009 with “tiger nose” grille. Good acceleration for urban use, some understeer, smooth ride, and on most counts a middle-of-the-road small car. Some interior plastics appeared cheap but the interior was, on the whole, pleasantly designed.
