Compact car designed in Europe, for Europe, after Kia’s earlier offerings failed to make much of a splash. Awkward name, but miles ahead of Spectra, and fairly competent against western competition. Replaced in 2012 with second-generation model. Related to Hyundai i30. The apostrophe disappeared from the model name with the third generation.
