Estate version of Moskvich 412, though Soviet designers were aware of the rise of hatchbacks such as the Renault 16 in the west. Name denoted factory (Izhevsk) and the word ‘estate’. Sold with the Combi name. Revisions in 1982 to Izh 21251, with disc brakes replacing drums, revisions to external appearance, more interior appointments, and improved safety. SL model added in the 1980s.
