Isuzu Piazza.jpg

Isuzu Piazza (JR120/JR130). 1981–91 (prod. n/a). 3-door coupé. F/R, 1949 cm³ (I4 OHC). Initially a beautiful coupé proposal (Asso di Fiori) by Giugiaro on Isuzu Gemini (1979–85) mechanicals. Flawed under the skin with poor handling and long model life—in a country where four years are normal—meant the Piazza was one of the most disliked in Japan toward the end of its run. Handling by Lotus models in mid-1980s sorted one aspect, but by then Piazza was looking passé. Exported as Isuzu Impulse to North America; Holden Piazza to Australia (from 1986—well past its sell-by date).

Manufacturing location: Fujisawa, Japan

Marque: Isuzu | Model: Isuzu Piazza | Predecessor: Isuzu 117 Coupé | Successors: Isuzu Piazza (1991–4), Isuzu Impulse (1990–2)
