Very large, poor fuel economy, and brake fade on 1972–3 models. Handling better than rivals’. Related to other full-size Chryslers, such as the Chrysler New Yorker, of this period. ‘Imperial by Chrysler’ badge from 1971; ’71s also had Bendix anti-lock brake option for the first time, a decade before Mercedes-Benz S-Klasse. New sheetmetal 1972, with large bumpers 1973.
