2009 Hyundai ix35.jpg

Hyundai Tucson IX/Hyundai ix35 (LM). 2009–17 (prod. 770,000 in China only). 5-door SUV. F/F, F/A, 1591, 1998 cm³ petrol, 1685, 1995 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC), 100 kW–0·95 kWh hydrogen–electric. Second-generation Tucson, exported as ix35 to some countries. Adapted to Hyundai’s ‘fluidic sculpture’ design theme, admittedly harder to do for a tall vehicle. Well equipped, though handling left something to be desired on FWD models. Four-wheel drive provided better grip, but less refined. Hydrogen fuel cell model had an extra 100 kg of weight; was one of the first fuel-cell cars on sale in Europe and the first commercially produced fuel-cell vehicle. Hyundai’s top seller in China, with 770,000 sold there.

Manufacturing locations: Ulsan, Korea; Žilina, Slovakia; Beijing, China

Marque: Hyundai | Model: Hyundai Tucson | Predecessor: Hyundai Tucson (JM) | Successors: Hyundai Tucson (TL), Hyundai ix35 (2017–23), Hyundai Nexo
