2002 Hyundai Sonata LX.jpg

Hyundai Sonata (New EF). 2001–10 (prod. unknown). 4-door sedan. F/F, 1836, 1997, 2351 cm³ (4 cyl. DOHC), 2493, 2656 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Nose-and-tail job on EF brought a more balanced, substantial look to Sonata. Same engines for Korea, though different units for export, with 2·4 four and 2·7 V6. Adequate power on fours; better on sixes. Some body roll though above-average ride. Roomy, good-value sedan. Twinned with Kia Optima, which shared the centre section. Korean production ended 2004, though Russian production continued to 2010.

Manufacturing locations: Asan, Korea; Beijing, China; Taganrog, Russia

Marque: Hyundai | Model: Hyundai Sonata | Predecessor: Hyundai Sonata EF | Successors: Hyundai Sonata (NF), Hyundai Sonata (YF)
