Flagship whose name was derived from Excellent, Quality, Unique, Universal, Supreme automotive, originally a development of a Mitsubishi design. Sold by Hyundai as a rival to the successful Ssangyong Chairman and largely sold only in its home market, though some were exported, usually as the Hyundai Centennial. A replacement was released in 2009 owing nothing to its predecessor: the new model was Hyundai’s own work, with a rear-wheel-drive platform benchmarked against the BMW 5er-Reihe (E60).
