Flagship whose name was derived from ''Excellent, Quality, Unique, Universal, Supreme automotive'', originally a development of a [[Mitsubishi]] design. Sold by Hyundai as a rival to the successful [[Ssangyong Chairman]] and largely sold only in its home market, though some were exported, usually as the Hyundai Centennial. A replacement was released in 2009 owing nothing to its predecessor: the new model was Hyundai’s own work, with a rear-wheel-drive platform benchmarked against the [[BMW 5er-Reihe (E60)]].
