Honda S2000 (AP1/AP2). 1999–2009 (prod. 110,673 sold). 2-door convertible. F/R, 1997, 2156 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Traditional roadster with typical Honda virtues of quality and reliability, and considered an excellent driver’s car at the time. Announced in 1998 to commemorate Honda’s 50th anniversary. Powerful, high-revving DOHC VTEC engine. Rigid structure, despite open body. Aluminium bonnet, to save weight. First rear-wheel-drive Honda since the S800. Distinctive digital speedometer. Steering lacked feedback among early models. Mid-term revisions in 2004, with larger wheels, improved handling and responsiveness. Further changes in 2007, remedying the steering feedback.

Manufacturing locations: Takanezawa, Tochigi, Japan; Suzuka, Mie, Japan

Marque: Honda | Predecessor: Honda S800
