1981 Honda Prelude.jpg

Honda Prelude (SN). 1978–82 (prod. 310,000 approx.). 2-door coupé. F/F, 1602, 1751 cm³ (I4 OHC). High-quality sports coupé sold through Honda Verno chain in the domestic market, and very successful in export markets, with most production going abroad. New chassis but suspension, brakes and engine shared with Honda Accord (1976–81); engineered to minimize understeer to give Prelude a more sporting feel. Larger engine only on the home market, with gradually increasing power outputs (from 90 to 97 PS); Hondamatic went from two-speed to two plus overdrive during the run.

Manufacturing location: Sayama, Japan

Marque: Honda | Model: Honda Prelude | Predecessor: Honda 145 | Successor: Honda Prelude (AB)
