Honda Prelude (BA8/BA9/BB1/BB2/BB3/BB4). 1991–6 (prod. n/a). 2-door coupé. F/F, 1997, 2156 cm³ (I4 OHC), 2157, 2259 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Honda moves Prelude upmarket, breaking out of class 5 (now 1,765 mm wide), and adopts a more voluminous styling theme, with a long bonnet, perhaps hiding the front-wheel-drive configuration. Meant to be more sporting than before, with smaller cabin and shorter overall length (4,440 mm). Still with 4WS as an option, but now driven by an electric motor. No more pop-up headlamps in this generation. Minor revisions 1993. Poorer sales overall, in part due to the greater width, which attracted more tax in Japan, and the collapse of the Japanese bubble economy.

Manufacturing location: Japan

Marque: Honda | Model: Honda Prelude | Predecessor: Honda Prelude (BA4) | Successor: Honda Prelude (BB5)
