Honda Insight (ZE2). 2009 to date (prod. unknown). 5-door sedan. F/F, 1339 cm³ petrol–electric hybrid. Reborn Insight, less innovative than ZE1 of 1999, and using some parts’ bin components to keep the cost down. Developed as a rival to Toyota Prius, especially as Honda lost out sales-wise in the US despite having made it to that market earlier with a hybrid. Its main hybrid, the Civic IMA, was considered too similar in exterior appearance to the petrol model. Exceptional economy, acceptable handling, based on initial reports; rear-seat space limited.
