2009 Honda Insight.jpg

Honda Insight (ZE2/ZE3). 2009–14 (prod. n/a). 5-door sedan. F/F, 1339, 1499 cm³ petrol–electric hybrid (I4 OHC). Reborn Insight, less innovative than ZE1 of 1999, and using some parts’ bin components to keep the cost down. Developed as a rival to Toyota Prius, especially as Honda lost out sales-wise in the US despite having made it to that market earlier with a hybrid. Its main hybrid, the Civic IMA, was considered too similar in exterior appearance to the petrol model. Exceptional economy, acceptable handling, based on initial reports; rear-seat space limited.

Manufacturing location: Suzuka, Mie, Japan

Marque: Honda | Model: Honda Insight | Predecessors: Honda Insight (ZE1), Honda Civic (2005–12) | Successor: Honda Insight (ZE4)
