Honda Civic (EM2/ES1/EP2/EP3/ES9/EU1). 2000–5 (prod. n/a). 3-, 4- and 5-door sedan, 2-door coupé. F/F, F/A, 1339 cm³ petrol–electric hybrid, 1396, 1590, 1668 cm³ petrol (I4 OHC), 1686 cm³ diesel, 1998 cm³ petrol (I4 DOHC). More efficient design—exterior dimensions roughly the same as previous model, but more room inside. Five-door hatch had almost minivan-like space. Four-door dubbed Ferio again. Scored Civic its fourth Japanese Car of the Year accolade. ES9 hybrid from 2001, with four-door sedan shape only. Mid-term changes 2003. Diesel engine made by Isuzu in Poland. Good fuel economy, and, depending on the model, performance and handling. Type R had nearly 200 hp on tap. Excellent quality and considered a very complete compact at the time.
