Honda followed up its successful Civic by proving it was no fluke. The Accord was ahead of many of its rivals dynamically when it was released in 1976, and each generation has built on the last successfully. Today, the Accord is Honda’s second global nameplate, even if it is applied to different cars from a Japanese point-of-view. For years it was the US’s best selling passenger car, and remains one of the gold standards of mid-sized sedans there.
