Holden Torana (LJ). 1972–5 (prod. 81,453, incl. 1,667 XU-1). 2- and 4-door sedan, 2- and 4-door LWB sedan. F/R, 1159, 1254 cm³ (I4 OHV), 1599, 1760 cm³ (I4 OHC), 2263, 2834, 3310 cm³ (I6 OHV). Facelifted version of LC, with looks brought into line with larger Holden HQ series. Sixes continued with longer wheelbase. XU-1 now with over 200 bhp from 202 in³ (3·3-litre) engine. Competition history cemented with LJ, winning Hardie–Ferodo race of 1972, beating the larger Ford Falcon GT-HO. Formed the basis of GM Korea’s Chevrolet 1700 and Camina (1976–8).
