Equipment upgrades across range only, and introduction of sporting ZZ/Z model—a case of style over substance, as it was mechanically identical to lesser Geminis. Sales continued to dive as Holden awaited arrival of R-car replacement, though it did not stop the company selling a rebadged Nissan Pulsar (N12) in the meantime (as the Holden Astra) as it lost sales to Ford.
