Holden Commodore Acclaim (VR).jpg

Holden Commodore (VR). 1993–5 (prod. 165,262). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon, 2-door utility. F/R, 3791 cm³ (V6 OHV), 4987 cm³ (V8 OHV). Comprehensive facelift, with only roof and door skins carried over, as Commodore became first Australian car with driver’s-side airbag (option on most except Acclaim and Calais). Rear wheel arch now rounded, not squared off, bringing the rear wings closer in appearance to those of Opel Senator B. ABS, IRS standard even on low-end Acclaim trim, introduced above base Executive but as a safety-conscious model. Executive continued with ancient suspension that could be traced back to Opel Rekord E1.

Manufacturing location: Australia

Marque: Holden | Model: Holden Commodore | Predecessor: Holden Commodore (VP) | Successor: Holden Commodore (VS)

q.v. Holden Calais (VR)
