1986 Holden Commodore Berlina (VL).jpg

Holden Commodore (VL). 1986–8 (prod. 151,801, incl. 500 HDT SS Group A, 750 Group A and other HDT and HSV). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/R, 2962 cm³ (6 cyl. OHV), 4987 cm³ (V8 OHV). Comprehensive revision of VK, with smoother nose with small grille, in typical 1980s’ European fashion. Big news at the time was the use of a Nissan engine shared with Skyline (R31) model, signalling the end of the traditional Aussie Holden six. (Holden found it easier fitting this unit rather than rework its six for unleaded fuel.) Turbo option on six; more power and torque on V8. Last Commodore on the Opel Commodore B platform.

Manufacturing location: Australia

Marque: Holden | Model: Holden Commodore | Predecessor: Holden Commodore (VK) | Successor: Holden Commodore (VN)
