Australian-designed front and rear to distance Commodore from German roots, with some changes to trim level: out with L and SL; in with SL and SL/X. Two-tone paint option; Vacationer package option from 1983. Increased power and improved economy on smallest two engines. Trip computer on SL/E, but during these years the Ford Falcon, with improved suspension and fuel economy, overtook the Holden Commodore on the sales’ charts. Commodore sales were also affected by the Japanese mid-sizers as well as Holden’s own Camira.
