From AutocadeHolden Commodore (VH). 1981–4 (prod. 141,018). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/R, 1892 cm³ (4 cyl. OHV), 2838, 3298 cm³ (6 cyl. OHV), 4142, 5044 cm³ (V8 OHV). Australian-designed front and rear to distance Commodore from German roots, with some changes to trim level: out with L and SL; in with SL and SL/X. Two-tone paint option; Vacationer package option from 1983. Increased power and improved economy on smallest two engines. Trip computer on SL/E, but during these years the Ford Falcon, with improved suspension and fuel economy overtook the Holden Commodore on the sales’ charts. Commodore sales were also affected by the Japanese mid-sizers as well as Holden’s own Camira.
