1969 Hillman Minx.jpg

Hillman Minx/Hillman Arrow (New Minx). 1967–70 (prod. 470,000 approx. all types, incl. Hunter). 4-door saloon, 5-door estate. F/R, 1496, 1725 cm³ (I4 OHV). Basic Arrow with Hillman Hunter bodyshell and smaller 1·5-litre engine and no overdrive, larger engine optional on estate (for export). Iron heads on engines. Absorbed into Hunter range (as Hunter de Luxe) at the turn of the decade. Not tremendously inspiring; notable for the last appearance of long-running Minx name, which began its run in 1932. Early Australian-assembled models were called Hillman Arrow (HB series), but the Hunter name was adopted in 1969 for the mid-term HC series. Similarly, South Africa had its Hillman Arrow, facelifted for the 1968 model year, complementing the Hunter in that market.
