Replacement for original Geely cars based on Tianjin Xiali TJ730 (in turn based on Daihatsu Charade (G100)). Faux Mercedes-Benz grille to signal prestige for mainland Chinese buyers getting in to cars for the first time. Toyota-derived engine initially. Not the best when it came to quality and for years, Geely’s worst in this respect. Facelift c. 2004 for a smoother, less pretentious front end.
Marque: Geely | Model: Geely Haoqing | Successor: Geely Xiongmao q.v. Geely Uliou
