GAZ-13. 1959–81 (prod. n/a). 4-door saloon, 5-door estate, 4-door convertible. F/R, 5522 cm³ (V8 OHV). Nicknamed Ча́йка (seagull), the GAZ 13 project began as an attempt to modernize the previous Soviet limousine, the ZIM 12, though eventually the Soviets began with a clean-sheet design. Body-on-frame construction, unlike 12. V8 also completely new, with aluminium alloy cylinder bock, heads, intake manifold and pistons. Fully automatic hydromechanical gearbox, activated by push-buttons inside. Styled by Lev Eremeev, influenced by the Packard Patrician and Caribbean. Estates by RAF in Riga, Latvia.
