Ford Zephyr Mk IV.jpg

Ford Zephyr (3008E). 1966–72 (prod. 102,417). 4-door saloon, 5-door estate. F/R, 1996 cm³ (V4 OHV), 2495, 2994 cm³ (V6 OHV). Last British Zephyr, judged to be too big by the market and not as successful as predecessor. Estates converted by Abbotts of Farnham, Surrey, though warranty honoured as factory cars. Base model had no grille; dummy grille for Deluxe. All-round disc brakes, all-independent suspension, though it handled and steered poorly; its US-influenced styling was incongruous. Corrosion problems; V4 troublesome. Three-litre V6 for export only. Upmarket model called Zodiac, covered separately.

Manufacturing location: Dagenham, Essex, England

Marque: Ford | Model: Ford Zephyr | Predecessor: Ford Zephyr Mk III | Successor: Ford Consul (1972–5)

q.v. Ford Executive
