Ford Torino. 1970–1 (prod. 556,874). 4-door sedan, 2- and 4-door hardtop, 2-door coupé, 2-door convertible, 5-door wagon. F/R, 250 in³ (I6 OHV), 302, 351, 429 in³ (V8 OHV). Longer, lower and wider version of the 1968–9 models, with a broader range, from basic sixes to performance models. Coke-bottle styling, with inspiration from supersonic aircraft. Motor Trend Car of the Year for 1970. Brougham denoted luxury model with air conditioning and other features, GT the performance model, while Cobra (available only as Sportsroof, the two-door coupé) was the extreme 429 4V model—and even then the 370 hp (up 10 hp) Cobra Jet Ram-Air was an option. Absorbed the Fairlane 500 line in 1971.
