Ford Thunderbird. 1964–6 (prod. 236,613). 2-door coupé, 2-door landau coupé, 2-door convertible. F/R, 390, 427, 428 in³ (V8 OHV). Squarer looks for 1964 T’bird, with overly soft, wallowy suspension. It was what Americans wanted from a personal–luxury car, and it outsold the Buick Riviera (1963–5) and the Pontiac Grand Prix (1962–4). Front disc brakes and sequential turn signals for 1965. Power increases for 1966.
