2015 Ford Mustang 5·0.jpg

Ford Mustang (S550). 2015 to date (prod. n/a). 2-door coupé. 2-door convertible. F/R, 2260 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 3726 cm³ (V6 DOHC), 4951, 5038, 5163 cm³ (V8 DOHC). Ford brings the Mustang up to date. Launched in six cities around the world, to highlight Mustang’s new global appeal, the new model finally gets multi-link independent rear suspension, and MacPherson struts at front. Best handling Mustang as a result, but ride fairly harsh and steering could be more communicative. Decent brakes. Small boot—a complaint that could be levelled at previous Mustangs. Official launch date 50 years to the day of the original, April 17, 2014. Turbocharged EcoBoost four with 309 PS and 407 Nm; V8 has 426 PS and 529 Nm, and of the two at launch, arguably the better bet, but still not the most efficient car with its heaviness. More modern design language, combining Ford’s 2010s’ kinetic design ideas with traditional Mustang proportions and details. Shelby GT350 featured 5·2 V8. Facelift for 2018 model year, with 10-speed gearbox shared with Chevrolet Camaro (2016–). Gen 3 update for 5·0 V8 saw bore enlarged from 92·2 mm to 93 mm, accounting for slight capacity increase. Another Bullitt special announced in 2018.
