Ford Fairlane. 1969–82 (prod. 29,602). 4-door sedan. F/R, 3620 cm³ (I6 OHV), 4778 cm³ (V8 OHV). First shown 1968, Fairlane was introduced to the Argentinian market as the earlier Falcon became mainstream: Ford felt it needed a more distinctive flagship. The basis was the US Fairlane of 1968, launched the year before. Large by any standards except those of the US and Canada: Fairlane measured 5,207 mm in length. V8 based on the 292 Y-block, used in US trucks. Top model called Fairlane LTD, from 1970. Mid-range 500 stayed in production till 1979. One of the country’s most luxurious cars, and considered posher than rival Dodge Coronado, which only came with a six.
