Ford Explorer (UN46). 1991–4 (prod. n/a). 3- and 5-door SUV. F/A, 3996 cm³ (V6 OHV). Very successful follow-up to Bronco II, targeting Jeep Cherokee (XJ) and Chevrolet S-10 Blazer and beating both. The right size for the market at launch, with five-door outselling three-door. Part-time all-wheel drive. Anti-lock brakes for 1993 that worked in both two- and four-wheel drive modes. Cologne engine had 155 hp initially, 160 hp in 1993.
