Ford Consul Classic (109E/110E/116E/117E). 1961–3 (prod. 111,225). 2- and 4-door saloon. F/R, 1340, 1498 cm³ (4 cyl. OHV). Replacement for Consul Mk II saw American lines scaled down to English proportions, but the styling was somewhat dated at launch thanks to Ford production concentrating on the successful Anglia. Well equipped, good roadholding and (for its time) relatively little body roll. Comfortable, and praised for its large boot. The public never took to the Classic in huge numbers, in part due to its styling and pricing.

Manufacturing location: Dagenham, Essex, England

Marque: Ford | Model: Ford Consul | Predecessor: Ford Consul Mk II | Successor: Ford Corsair (1963–70)

q.v. Ford Consul Capri
