Ford Consul (1972–5)
From AutocadeFord Consul. 1972–5 (prod. 850,000 approx. incl. Granada Mk I). 2- and 4-door saloon, 2-door coupé, 5-door estate. F/R, 1699, 1996 cm³ (V4 OHV), 1993 cm³ (I4 OHC), 1998, 2293, 2496, 2994 cm³ (V6 OHV). Anglo–German Consul, replacing 17M and derivatives in Germany and Zephyr Mk IV in Britain. Excellent dynamics for the time. More sensibly sized than Zephyr and 17M—an admission Ford got it wrong with those models. Coupé featured coke-bottle line, revised in 1974. All models became Ford Granadas in 1975, but initially positioned below that range.
