Fiat X1-9.jpg

Fiat X1/9/Bertone X1/9. 1972–89 (prod. 200,000 approx. all types). 2-door coupé. M/R, 1290, 1498 cm³ (4 cyl. SOHC). Mid-engined sports car, a revolution when launched in 1972. Sharp, razor-edged styling, removable roof panel, and particularly agile. Tricky at the limit. Launched with 1290 cm³ engine, and upgraded to 1498 cm³ in 1978, but not much development since then. Built by Bertone, which designed it (under Marcello Gandini), from 1982 to 1989, and sold under its marque in those years.

Manufacturing location: Torino, Italy

Marque: Fiat | Predecessor: Fiat 850 Spider
