Fiat Cinquecento 1,1.jpg

Fiat Cinquecento (Tipo 170). 1991–8 (prod. n/a). 3-door saloon. F/F, 704 cm³ (I2 OHV), 899, 903 cm³ (I4 OHV), 1108 cm³ (I4 OHC), 9 kWh electric. Replacement for tiny 126 has engine up front along with front-wheel drive, possibly with its roots in the Fiat X1/7 and X1/75, and the FSM Beskid projects. Styled by Ermanno Cressoni with Antonio Piovano; interior by Claudio Mottino and Giuseppe Bertolusso. First Fiat to be built exclusively in Tychy, Poland. Sporting surprisingly agile and fun to drive with its 1·1; OHV units were slightly improved but were stuck in the past, especially twin from 126. Limited boot space. Elettra an expensive but early (relative to the likes of the Tesla) electric car with two batteries (one in engine bay, one under the rear seats).

Manufacturing location: Tychy, Śląsk, Poland

Marque: Fiat | Model: Fiat 500 | Predecessor: Fiat 126 | Successor: Fiat Seicento
