Fiat Barchetta (Tipo 183). 1994–2005 (prod. 57,791). 2-door convertible. F/F, 1747 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Attractive small coupé inside and out, released during an era when it seemed Fiat could not falter on style. On shortened Fiat Punto (176) platform, and released in left-hand drive only. Named for a small boat, with initial sketches inspired by the Ferrari 166 MM. Originally made by Maggiora, before that company’s demise in 2002; production resumed 2003 at Mirafiori, with one interruption in 2004. Good acceleration with very flexible engine, excellent grip, if steering vague. Well priced, and a rival to the Eunos Roadster (NA) and its successor.
Marque: Fiat | Predecessor: Fiat 124 Sport Spider | Successor: Fiat 124 Spider
