1971 Fiat 127.jpg

Fiat 127 (X1/4). 1971–83 (prod. 3,779,086). 2- and 3-door saloon. F/F, 903 cm³ (I4 OHV), 1049, 1301 cm³ petrol, 1301 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Fiat’s supermini, using the BMC Mini formula of front drive and transverse engine. European Car of the Year for 1971–2. Incredibly roomy given the small exterior size, and performed well. Two-door saloon at first; hatchback in 1972. Facelift in 1977, with plastic bumpers and more modern appearance for the time; second facelift in 1981. SEAT built 127 under licence and included four- and five-door models (some sold as Fiats), and the Fura found its roots in the 127; Brazilian Fiat 147 (along with its successors, the Brío, Spazio and Vivace) was based on 127. Other models that the 127 spawned included the Fiat Panorama in Brazil (sold in Europe as 127 Panorama) and the Fiorino van.

Manufacturing location: Mirafiori, Torino, Italy

Marque: Fiat | Predecessor: Fiat 850 | Successor: Fiat Uno (146)
