1979 Dodge St Regis.jpg

Dodge St Regis (R-body). 1979–81 (prod. unkn0wn). 4-door sedan. F/R, 225 in³ (6 cyl. OHV), 318, 360 in³ (V8 OHV). Boxy successor to Monaco, riding a 118½-inch platform related to the B-body one underpinning the Chrysler Cordoba (1975–9). Used old Chrysler trim name. Not that modern under the skin—Chrysler, staving off bankruptcy, used its parts’ bin—and not that much more fuel-efficient than its predecessor. Quality problems as with many Chrysler products of the era. Launched at the wrong time, as fuel prices rose again.

Manufacturing location: USA

Marque: Dodge | Predecessors: Dodge Monaco (1977–8), Dodge Royal Monaco | Successor: Dodge Diplomat (1977–89)
